History

History

The Osetrovo pier was founded in 1929 on the basis of the Ust-Kut pier.
The next stage of the port development was predetermined by the construction of the Taishet-Lena railway section. Osetrovo became the only place on the Lena river where it is possible to transship cargoes from the railway to river vessels, and it remains as such up to now.

In 1954, the port territory became part of the newly established town of Ust-Kut.

In 1970, the construction of the Western Cargo Area was completed. During these years, the port already had about 100 port cranes and became the largest port in the USSR.

In 1993, the port was reincorporated as a joint-stock company, and Osetrovsky River Port OJSC was established on its basis.
During the navigation period of 2007, Osetrovskaya Shipping Company LLC was the main operator of cargo transportation for the state order for construction of the Eastern Siberia –Pacific Ocean Pipeline System at the section: Ust-Kut town – Kirensk town – Vitim township – Lensk town – Pervomaisk township. Despite the existing difference of interests in the river business, our holding company organized this work involving a number of companies with various forms of ownership. Thanks to these actions, 1,170,000 tonnes of various cargoes have been carried and handled by floating cranes.

In autumn 2009, the bankruptcy proceedings that had been carried out in relation to the port during the 2000s were ceased.

After the auction for privatization of the controlling stake in Osetrovsky River Port OJSC in October 2011, the enterprise acquired a strategic partner in the person of Starway Group. The Group also manages Starway Snabzhenie LLC; Alliance Auto Group LLC, an automotive holding company; and Rechservice LLC, one of the leading companies in Yakutia that provides freight forwarding and cargo handling services.

Since 2011, the largest transportation and logistics centre on the Lena River has begun to be created on the basis of the Osetrovsky river port. The main goal of the centre is to provide a whole range of services for supply chain management, delivery of cargoes from the supplier to the customer's warehouse, as well as maintenance services for oil production and shipping companies.
At the end of 2021, Verkhnelenskoye River Shipping Company LLC was consolidated by Segezha Group.
