Production of paper packaging in Russia

A key business for Segezha Group is the production of paper packaging for cement, dry construction mixes, chemical products, foodstuffs, as well as the production of paper bags and packages for retailers.

Segezha Group makes paper packaging at production facilities in Russia. Segezha Group's packaging factories are located in the Republic of Karelia and Rostov Region, with a total capacity of 668 million bags per year.

Access to its own sources of raw materials means the company can easily keep packaging production costs from rising, reducing volatility and boosting its profit margins. All of this allows the company to successfully compete with other producers both in Russia and abroad.

Segezha Group makes bags in a variety of designs intended for a broad range of uses and also consults customers on what could be the best packaging solutions for their products. Our company focuses heavily on the research and development of new technologies.

History

1 July 2007 saw Segezha Pulp and Paper Mill spin out its packaging production division into an independent company, Segezha Packaging LLC.

As a result of a focused modernisation programme implemented in 2002–2007, old production equipment was replaced with versatile production lines with embedded printing units; the company also got a high-speed printing machine that can print up to 6 colours.

The installation of a TRIUMPH package-making machine allowed Segezha Pulp and Paper Mill to start offering professional consumer packaging solutions.

Segezha Packaging LLC became a subsidiary of Sistema's Segezha Group in 2014. In the same year, the company commissioned a sixth modern high-speed line, installed a preliminary printing machine capable of printing up to 8 colours.

In 2016, Segezha Packaging set up a new branch: in March, the company opened a converting factory in Salsk (Rostov Region) with a capacity of 90 million bags. That same year, Segezha launched a new package-making machine for making consumer packaging, which allowed the company to double output to 50 million bags per year and expand its product range.

In October 2018, Segezha Group commissioned a consumer packaging line with a capacity of 25 million units of product per year in Salsk. One year later, the company commissioned another line for making industrial paper packaging, as a result of which the total capacity of the Rostov Region branch increased by 83 million units per year.
